Baby Club The
Virtual Magazine
of the First School
This
program has been designed for babies from 15 days
old up to 5 years old.
By
playing and singing with their parents, children
learn how to swim without crying, without fear and
without loss of time.
This
is a reduced program consisting of only two special
classes during which the baby feels the unforgettable
and rewarding experience of the first plunge into
the water under teachers´ supervision and
accompanied by one or both parents.
It
has been specially designed for families which cannot
complete the traditional learning process and wish
to prevent their babies from suffering undesired
negative experiences.
This
is a program for expecting mothers in their fourth
month onwards.
It
is an integral program that allows mothers to face
the delivery moment in their best physical and psychological
condition.
Warm
water, music and pleasing exercises contribute to
mother-baby intimate connection. Certainly, the
father-to-be is invited to participate.
This
is a survival techniques program based on exhaustive
drilling for families with children under 5 years
old.
Accident
drillings will be repeated in order to reassure
the family on safety rules and useful routines in
case of emergency.
For
babies with special needs, Matroswimming™
offers its I.S.E.F.I. Aquatic Rehabilitation Department.
In
“Matroswimming™ adapted to Babies with
disabilities” (Editorial Médica
Panamericana – Back cover summary) the new
book by Dr. Patricia Cirigliano, a world authority
and pioneer in aquatic initiation for babies, we
can find the answer to human and scientific challenge
she encountered over four decades ago when she faced
the inexistence of specific research on early childhood
age.
Being
a member of the Argentine Association of Pediatrics,
she works hand in hand with pediatricians for both
normal and handicapped children, which has permitted
her to coin a completely original methodology on
an area totally deprived from research on aquatic
co-therapy which proposes the active participation
of the newly born´s family and young children
up to 5 years old.
The
support of the most prestigious Argentine pediatricians
accounts for valuable therapeutic break-through
as well as for the set up of Matroswimming™
resources adapted to the babies with special needs.
Furthermore,
in the sociological field she established internationally
in 1990 “The rights of the infant swimmer
and its family” which are included in said
book and which were inspired by the Infant Rights
Convention.
Her
background also includes pre-natal work and aquatic
births, a field in which she is also a pioneer.Besides,
her contribution to clinical psychology is focused
on prevention, being a key issue the early interaction
of parents with their baby, mother-child relationship
and family crises.
Her
professional practice on families with a handicapped
child has been developed over the last 20 years
during which the experience with children suffering
from different pathologies has increased enticing
her to consolidate the present teaching staff that
works side by side with her.
This
is an auxiliary program designed for moms and dads.
Its
target is to make parents swim (if they don´t),
to improve swimming techniques (if they already
know how to but incorrectly), to reconcile them
with the water and to teach them to swim (if they
have not learnt due to fear or to a traumatic experience
in the water).
